Abstract

This study quantitatively evaluates carbon emissions from five major industrial sectors—manufacturing, cement, steel, chemical, and food processing—and assesses the effectiveness of ten sustainable environmental management strategies. We employed a comparative quantitative design integrating carbon footprint assessment, Life Cycle Assessment, greenhouse gas inventory analysis, energy auditing, and statistical modeling. A total of 75 industrial facilities were selected via stratified random sampling, with 15 facilities per sector. Primary data were collected through energy audits, fuel consumption records, production reports, and environmental compliance inspections, while secondary data were drawn from national inventories and IPCC emission factors. Statistical analyses included ANOVA, Pearson correlation, Principal Component Analysis, multiple linear regression, and cluster analysis. Implementation of the strategies substantially reduced carbon emissions across all sectors; the steel industry achieved the highest reduction of 26.4%, followed by manufacturing (25.7%) and food processing (25.3%). Industrial energy consumption decreased by 14.7% to 20.3%, renewable energy adoption doubled from 18% to 36%, and waste recycling rates improved from 46% to 71%. Among the strategies, carbon capture and storage achieved the greatest single emission reduction at 38%, whereas energy-efficient equipment demonstrated the highest cost-effectiveness and adoption rate (81%). The principal barriers were high capital investment (mean score 4.63 on a 1–5 scale) and technology constraints. Projection analysis indicated that carbon reductions could increase from 22% in 2025 to 42% by 2035. Our findings provide empirical evidence that integrated mitigation measures significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions while improving sustainability performance, with energy-efficient equipment emerging as the most practical strategy for immediate adoption.
